This exhibition actually began with a friendship. I met an artist/gallery curator Sohui when I stayed at her Airbnb in San Francisco. Over coffee, she said, “You should come to Korea and exhibit your work.” A few months and many late-night Zoom calls later, I found myself in Seoul, working with new friends who taught me about life in Seoul and who helped bring this show to life. 

This show also features Sohui’s artistic work, inspired by her belief in encouraging children to create art. For her side, she transformed her daughter’s drawings of school friends into large-scale pieces of their own. Together, our projects explore friendship and creativity.

What I love most is that the exhibition became an example of the very thing it celebrates. For a project about friendship, it feels fitting that a friendship is what brought me here in the first place.
